     Elmer Dean Rodgers was born on 12 March 1906 in Ada, Pontotoc Co., Oklahoma, probably born in the Chickasaw Nation before statehood.1,2 He was the son of Alexander Rodgers and Mary E. (-?-). Elmer Dean Rodgers began military service in the U.S. Army during World War II, SP5 Ordance Corps. He also served in Korea.2 He ended military service with a medical discharge. According to his daughter Ruth, he talked to himself and was therefore thought to be mentally ill.3 He was a cotton farmer.1 He was not affiliated with any church or religion.4 He married Winnie May Needham, daughter of John Logan Needham and Minnie Marie Gollihugh, between 1930 and 1934.2 Elmer Dean Rodgers and Winnie May Needham were divorced in 1935.1 He was an alcoholic and suffered from high blood pressure.1 Elmer Dean Rodgers died on 4 January 1965 in Wellington, Collingsworth Co., Texas, at age 58.1,2 He died of a heart attack.2 He was buried in South Fairview Cemetery, Wellington, Collingsworth Co., Texas.2
