John M. Needham was born between 1841 and 1842 in Grainger Co., Tennessee.2 He was the son of Ira Needham and Annie Seamore. John M. Needham married Matilda Dodson, daughter of John Dodson and Martha Patsy Grady, on 5 March 1862 in Polk Co., Missouri.3,4 John was in the Civil War in the Union Army. He volunteered April 12, 1862 at Bolivar, Missouri. He was a private promoted to Cpl. and served with Company E, Eight Regiment, Missouri State Militia Cavalry. John M. Needham died on 14 February 1882 in Polk Co., Missouri.2
